Quick Weight Loss tips

Do you have any weight loss tips? This is most common question I get when I tell people that I am a nutritionist. Since it is such a common question, I thought I would start off with a few tips
1. Exercise, exercise, exercise! It is recommended by the New Zealand Ministry of Health (MOH) that we do moderate exercise everyday for at least 30minutes. The more fun the exercise the better. If it's fun you are more likely to stick to it.
2. Cut down on fatty foods. Fat is more energy dense than protein and carbohydrates, and tend to contribute to weight gain if you do not expend enough energy. Cut down on fat by draining the fat from fried foods; steaming, boiling, baking and stir frying foods; using low fat dairy products; and eating fewer takeaways.
3. Cut down on sugary foods. Where there is lots of sugar there is probably lots of fat. Reduce your intake of cakes, biscuits, sweets, and choose lower sugar options when buying food and drink.
4. Ask your friends for support. It's much easier to lose weight if your friends and family encourage you and join in your weight loss program.
5. Cut down on alcohol. It has hidden energy.
6. Have the occasional treat, just to prevent the urge to binge on junk food.
7. Keep busy to avoid boredom snacking
