Food swaps continued

-Swap deep fried hot chips for oven fries. The former are very fatty and salty. Too much salt isn’t good for your health and neither is having too much fat. Fat is very high in energy and having too much can contribute to weight gain if you don’t get enough exercise. Having too much salt can raise your blood pressure and harm the health of your bones. Oven fries are just as tasty and are much healthier option.

-Swap ice cream for yoghurt. Yoghurt is a better option because it is high in calcium, low in fat, sugar, and energy.

-Swap potato crisps for homemade popcorn. Store bought potato chips are much higher in salt and fat than homemade popcorn, provided that you don’t smother your popcorn in salt and butter.


-Exchange lollies for dried fruit. Lollies are full of sugar and nothing much else. Dried fruit are just as yummy as lollies, but they are quite high in sugar. However, dried fruit contains significantly more micronutrients, such as thiamin, vitamin C, and iron, which makes them a better choice.

-Swap chocolate for a hot Milo made with hot water. With Milo you will get your chocolate fix without all the extra kilojoules and saturated fat. Eating too much saturated fat can raise your LDL “bad” cholesterol level.

-Have fruit juice instead of fizzy. Fizzy is quite high in sugar and energy and low in essential micronutrients. Fruit juice is also quite high in sugar, but at least it is full of micronutrients such as vitamin C and thiamin.

More great advice -- I think you could turn this into a diet idea. Keep swapping bad foods for better ones until you are eating healthily!
