European food

Since the last time I posted I was in the Czech Republic and I hadn't tried any Czech crusine. I've also moved around since then too. I crossed the border to Austria, and I took a train to Switzerland and then onto Italy.
In Prague, Czech Republic I tried a Czech specialty called the Old Bohemian plate from Maitrea Really Long Link It consists of red beet cakes, polenta dumplings, saurekraut, tofu and sauteed onions. It doesn't sound like much but it was one of the most amazing vegetarian dishes I've eaten. It had an interesting combinations of flavours, sweet, sour and smoky.
In Austria I just had to try their apfelstreudel (apple streudel). I've tried apfelstreudel made by a Swiss friend of mine and it was amazing. The apfelstreudel I tried was from a chain bakery called Anker. It wasn't amazing. It was okay. Maybe I should've tried a homemade apfelstreudel.
Swiss chocolate is divine. The chocolate we tried in Switzerland was by the brand Swiss Alps, which can be found in supermarkets. This particular chocolate was dairy milk chocolate and had a very fine texture. Very nice but should only be eaten as an occasional treat.
I'll talk about Italian food a little bit later once I get to try some real Italian food.
Ciao.
